Hey, I've just started enjoying cycling and do an hour cycle sprint 2-3 times a week, i had hoped this book would tell me how to train from a beginner to a more advanced technique, but to me its somewhat technical suggesting techniques for a rider who rides for 3-4 hours a time, at least 3 days a week covering 70 miles or more. No doubt this book is crammed with usefull training techniques but i think i need to increase my stamina and mileage before I'm going to make much sense of it. Hope this helps - I personally might buy another less hard-core book to suit my needs.

A very comprehensive book with some excellent indoor turbo trainer sessions for those of us that hate the contraptions and need every possible incentive to use one (other than the fear of being slow in the summer). The training programmes are all laid out in an easy to follow way, and to be honest if you followed them religiously then you would be bound to see an improvement. However, since I'd rather cut my legs off with a blunt hacksaw than ride a turbo it hasn't worked for me...

The stationary bike training programs in this book are incredible. There is a 12 week program as well as various technical workouts that focus on different aspects of training: aerobic, speed, acceleration, strength, and time trials to name a few. I've used the 12 week program to train for a couple of triathlons. The tips on racing and bike fitment have been useful for me as well. I have appreciated the content of this book enough that I have given it to other cyclist, so that at this point I have actually purchased this book three times. I have trouble imagining anyone using a stationary bike trainer without the advantage of having this book.

Like the book. It explains alot of helpful things to the cyclist. I especially like the cheap way to lighten your bike! It also comes with a set of trainer riding programs to get you ready for next season. It explains aerobic and anaerobic training and the difference there is. Also, that you should get a good heart rate monitor and cadence meter for the training programs. I am using these programs this winter and look forward to the benefits. I recommend the book.
